Advanced Ceramics Laboratory

Functional ceramic, electro-ceramic and framework materials for energy storage, energy conversion and clean water, at the National University of Singapore.

Researchers in the Advanced Ceramics Laboratory design functional ceramic, electro-ceramic and composite materials for the next era of energy generation, energy storage, electronics and healthcare. The group develops fabrication routes for these materials and correlates structural parameters with functional properties across molecular, nanometer and micrometer scales.

Current work spans electrochemical energy storage, metal organic frameworks and framework derived materials, ceramic membranes for water treatment, ferroelectric and piezoelectric thin films, and first principles modelling that supports the experimental programme. The laboratory is led by Professor John Wang in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
